Tarrant High School

Tarrant High School was established by the Ministry of Education in 1961 as Tarrant Senior School. It was designed to serve the needs of the 11-15 year old students of the neighbouring All-Age schools. Reverend J.T. Clarke was selected as the first chairman and Mr. J.W. Davis was appointed the first principal. A staff of fourteen (14) was selected and the first staff meeting was held on the April 10, 1961. The school’s admissions register shows that registration of students was first done on the April 17, 1961. Six hundred and seventy-one (671) students were admitted. The school was officially opened on March 8, 1962 by then Minister of Education, The Honourable Florizel Glasspole.
