Go horseback riding all across Jamaica

Go horseback riding all across Jamaica

You’ve seen those ads on tv in the dead of winter, happy smiling people horseback riding all across Jamaica, splashing through the waves as they swim in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea on a beautiful stallion or mare.

Yes, it is as much fun as it seems.

This is a fantastic excursion that can fulfill the need to find a fun, family-friendly activity and just as easily be a lovely romantic tour for a couple.

A little hint though, for those with sensitive skin who have never gone horseback riding before, you may want to wear yoga leggings or pants that you don’t mind getting wet.

There are a few tours around the island.

Chukka Tours, Ocho Rios & Negril

Two Chukka locations in Jamaica, Chukka Cove, and Sandy Bay offer horseback riding tours including a swim in the sea.

Saddle up for an amazing ride through sites where famous movies were shot, or into the countryside to explore Jamaican history, and then both end with plunging into the sea on horseback.

Braco StablesFalmouth

Meander through the Jamaican countryside while your guide regales you with stories of the area including what an abandoned airstrip was used for.

Then, end the day frolicking in the water on a beautiful beach with your horse.

Private customized rides are available for everyone from beginners to experienced riders. Ask for the option for a BBQ lunch or just a refreshing drink afterward at the Braco Estate Great House.

Hooves Jamaica, St. Ann’s Bay

Specializing in horseback riding excursions each tour with Hooves is a memorable activity in and of itself.

Their beach trek passes by the site of a native Taino village, through an old sugar mill estate, into the sea to swim bareback, and ends with a mini shopping experience for a souvenir of the day.

Customized rides are available for more experienced riders, while a romantic excursion for a couple on their honeymoon includes wine and a beautiful dining experience.

Island Routes, Montego Bay

Take a spectacular horseback ride through the Jamaican countryside, through farmland, and the ruins of an 18th-century sugar plantation with stories of the island’s history.

See Me No More Tours, Port Antonio

A shorter tour than usual but a nice 15-minute ride plus more excursions.

You’ll head out to one of the beautiful beaches on the east coast, and, as you plunge into the water bareback astride a beautiful horse, you will find yourself reliving all those ads you always saw on television.
